마이클잭슨이 급성심장마비증상으로 병원으로 실려가던 때, 파파라치는 그의 다급한 모습을 찍었다. 1987년에 태어난 나는 그의 모습을 TV에서 봤고, 사실은 방한 콘서트를 했을 때 그의 노래를 정식으로 접했다. TV에 비치는 그의 춤은 오로지 그의 몸짓의 집결체였다. 그는 오직 화려한 효과를 그의 춤을 돕게 하기 위해서만 썼다. 그외의 그의 모습은 파파라치들에게 찍힌 사진들로 나를 의아하게 했다. 천하의 춤꾼은 사진 속에 갇혀서 춤을 출 수가 없는 모습이었다. 그는 사진들의 감옥에 갇힌 죄수였고 TV브라운관에 나타나는 영상의 한 표편이었다. 적어도 나에게는, 아니, 그를 알지 못하던 많은 사람들에게는. 하지만 이제 그가 죽었다. 그는 아마 달에서 문워크를 하고 있을 것이다. 달과 지구의 거리는 TV브라운관과 사진 속의 그와 우리의 거리보다도 휠씬, 휠씬 멀다. 달이 지구에게 기울어져서 그의 모습을 보여주지 않는다면 우리는 그가 춤추는 것을 다시는 볼 수가 없을 것이다. 그는 우리에게 살아있지만 만져 볼 수 없는 하나의 개념체였고 이제는 사진보다 더 높은 차원으로 가버렸다. 한가지 안심이 되는 것은 적어도 달은 '춤'을 '자유롭다'라는 말과 동일시하는 곳이라는 것이다.

마이클 잭슨이 늑대인간으로 변하는 장면. 이때의 기술로는 굉장히 획기적인 효과였을 것이다.
사실 앞에 장면은 마이클이 여자친구와 같이 보러 온 영화의 한 장면이었다. 이때의 그, 정말 얄미운 표정을 짓는다.ㅎㅎ
노래 나오는 부분이다. 삐진 여자친구를 달래려 노래를 부르는 마이클.

그러나 갑자기 좀비로 변해버린 그는 마을좀비들과 어울려서 춤을 추고..(Break dance).
여자친구는 좀비로 변한 그를 보고 소리를 지르지만 갑자기 진짜 마이클로 돌아와서 왜그러냐고 안심시키지만...마지막 부분은 섬뜩하게도 다시 좀비로 변한 그가 우리를 보고 쓰윽 웃는다. 반전?
